Cameron's Biography
Not having at least a short biography on my personal website didn’t seem to make much sense, so that’s why you’re reading this post. Hopefully this will give you a bit of background into who I am. If you really want to know more, check out my Facebook or Twitter. If I could help you out with something, send me an e-mail, I’d love to talk.
- Currently, I’m a 22 year old college senior at Valparaiso University.
- I’m an Economics major, with minors in Japanese and Business Administration.
- On campus, I work as General Manager at student run WVUR.
- I’ve been into the internet, new tech, and stuff that is “trendy” for a while, I guess.
- In January 2007, my blog got mentioned in the New York Times. This kinda fueled my fire and turned blogging/web stuff into a bigger hobby.
- After that, I founded and produced the WiiChat.com Show for a while. It was a blast, I got to create content with my best friends, and it even took me to New York city.
- In January 2008, some I thought it would be cool to play through four games from The Legend of Zelda in under 48 hours. We decided to broadcast it online, figuring 10-15 people would find it interesting. Turns out that over 100,000 actually thought it was worth tuning into that weekend. We were able to use the event to raise money for Child’s Play, bringing in $4000 or so in a handful of marathons.
- During the summer and fall of 2008, I started to a podcast and really grew to love conducting interviews. Since I started, I’ve had the change to interview apple co-founder steve wozniak, american idol winner david cook, actor/director zach braff, comedian tom green, composer tommy tallarico, 3oh!3’s nat motte, relient k’s matt thiessen, justin.tv ceo michael siebel, chicago red stars ceo peter wilt, cheapassgamer.com’s david abrams, revision3’s ron richards, company of thieve’s genevieve shatz, professional soccer player chris rolfe, and many other established names in the music and tech industries.
- During the summer of 2009, I really didn’t wanna work a real summer job. Instead, two friends and I founded CollegeKidApp.com in hopes of building and releasing an iPhone application even though we didn’t have any experience.
- In less than two months, we were able to think up, design, develop, and release our first app Battery Go!.
- Abouy 36 hours after release, Battery Go! was one of the top 100 most downloaded paid applications in the iTunes App Store. Over time, we became the #1 most downloaded paid application in the Netherlands and were top sellers in Brazil and Italy as well.
- People thought this was pretty cool and we were featured on Fox Business News, the Chicago Sun-Times, NBC5 Chicago, the NWI Times, WGN 720 Radio, and more.
- We were able to release two other applications over the summer and hope to do more development in the future.
- As far as hobbies go, I usually spend most of my free time reading or watching soccer. I’m a huge fan of the Chicago Fire and US Men’s National Team, just ask my roommates who can hear me screaming throughout the house anytime either team scores a goal.
Hopefully this gives you a bit of insight into who I am. If you’d like a digial copy of my resume, you can find it here. Anything else? Send me an e-mail to Cameron@CameronBanga.com.
